une 24-25, 2019, sessions of the working group and General Meeting of the Association of Legal Entities "International Association "Trans-Caspian International Transport Route" (TITR Association) were held in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan).
During the meeting, the participants of the General Meeting approved and signed the agreement on the organization of container service with the usage of feeder vessels between the ports of Aktau – Baku/ Alyat.
The unique feature of this document is that this is the first agreement that provides a single procedure of completion of paperwork of rail-water container transportation at the Caspian Sea. Due to the elimination of the necessity to issue supplemental documents in the ports of Aktau and Baku, this agreement provides a significant reduction of the time of goods delivery between these ports from 2-3 days to 24 hours. In general, due to the changes in transportation technology, namely, by dint of the operating schedule for the feeder vessel and regularity of supplying of container trains, the overall efficiency of the Middle Corridor will increase.
The participants of the General Meeting also signed an agreement on interaction and responsibility in providing the organization of cargo transportation as part of container trains along the route TITR. The approval of this document strictly regulates the cargo delivery time generally on the TITR and on each of its individual sections, including the time expenditure of rail and sea carriers, as well as port operators while passing container trains on the Trans-Caspian international transport route. The agreement provides for increasing of carriers responsibility, the level of service and the timing of cargo transportation through the Middle Corridor.
By the decision of the General Meeting, the Kazakhstan company Astyk Trans JSC was accepted as an associate member of the Association. Accordingly, as of today, the TITR Association includes 18 members – railway and maritime administrations, state and private companies of the transport and logistics sector from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, China, Turkey, Poland, Ukraine and Romania.
Reference: Astyk Trans JSC is a company whose main activity is operating of specialized rolling stock for grain transportation, freight forwarding services for the transportation of grain in Kazakhstan and abroad. The total wagon fleet managed by Astyk Trans JSC is about 5,000-grain wagons, which makes it possible to transport 5.5 million tons of grain per year. At the same time, the Company has the opportunity to increase its production capacity by attracting an additional fleet of wagons to meet the growing demand of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the railway transportation of grain.
