More participants gathered at the second international transport and logistics exhibition Caspian Ports & Shipping 2021 in Aktau

On October 19 - 21, 2021 in the city of Aktau (Kazakhstan), the second international transport and logistics exhibition and conference Caspian Ports & Shipping 2021 was held. The event was organized by the Transport Events Management Limited, with the support of NC Aktau Sea Commercial Port JSC. The TITR Association was the official strategic partner of this event.

The main purpose of the event was to highlight the possibilities of the transport infrastructure of the Caspian region and increase its transit potential. All meetings held within the framework of Caspian Ports & Shipping 2021 will serve to further strengthen business relations, as well as the development of multimodal transportation in the Caspian region.

The conference was opened by the Akim of Mangistau region, Nurlan Nogayev, Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ruslan Baimishev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of NC KTZ JSC for logistics, Yerlan Koishibayev and Chairman of the Executive Board (President) of NC Aktau Sea Commercial Port JSC, Abay Turikpenbaev. Welcoming remarks were also delivered by EU Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Mr Kestutis Jankauskas, World Bank Country Manager for Kazakhstan, Mr Jean-Francois Marteau and Ambassador of Estonia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr Toomas Tirs, who at the end of the opening ceremony visited the exhibition and stand of the TITR Association, where they got acquainted with the current activities and prospects for the development of the TITR.

The current conference and exhibition Caspian Ports & Shipping 2021 was held for the second time and, despite the quarantine restrictions, gathered about 250 delegates from 20 countries of the world, including the Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassadors of Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Latvia, Romania, Spain, Finland, Croatia, Estonia, as well as Deputy Head of Mission of Netherlands.

On October 19, 2021, the day before the conference and exhibition, the participants of the event made technical visits to the ports of Aktau, Quryq, as well as the Aktau Marine North Terminal (AMST), during which they were able to familiarize themselves in detail with the infrastructure capabilities of these facilities.

About 30 invited speakers represented railway, maritime, transport and logistics companies, government agencies, leading shippers of the region, suppliers of port equipment and other business areas. Among the topics of the conference, the main ones were - Exploiting Trade Demands at The Caspian Sea Region, Encouraging Investments and Collaborations in EU-ASIA Through Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, Digitalization of railway and maritime infrastructure.

So, on the first day of the conference, October 20, 2021, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of NC KTZ JSC for logistics, Yerlan Koishibayev noted the importance of feeder service between the ports of Aktau and Baku, as well as the prospects for launching another feeder line in the Black Sea as part of the development of the TITR route. Among the speakers on the same day were the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan railways JCS, Umidulla Ibragimov, General Director of "QazTrade" Trade Policy Development Center JSC, Azamat Askaruly, General Director of International Logistics CRCT Kazakhstan LLP, Hao Guoqi, Senior Transport Economist of World Bank, Victor Aragones, Business Development Director of Poti New Terminal Corporation (PNTC), Levan Sulaberidze and many others.

On the second day of the conference, October 21, 2021, international experts discussed topical issues in the field of connecting the Black and Caspian Seas, digitalization of railway and maritime infrastructure, as well as enhancing environmental sustainability in the Caspian Sea region. Among the speakers, the General Director of the Union of Transport and Logistics Organizations and Associations "KAZLOGISTICS", Yerlan Absatov, Chief Commercial Officer of APM Terminals Poti, Iain Rawlinson, Counsellor of Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication of the Republic of Estonia, Erkki Veismann, Chief Operating Officer of Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC, Eugene Seah and many others.

During the two days of the conference, speakers and delegates of the event used a unique platform for business meetings and negotiations. In particular, negotiations were held between representatives of the TITR Association and World Bank, Uzbekistan railways JCS, International Logistics CRCT Kazakhstan LLP, APM Terminals and many others. The memorandum of cooperation in international transport between Port Quryq LLP and Uztemiryulcontainer JSC (Uzbekistan) was signed at the TITR Association stand.
