On 15 August 2024 meeting was held with representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at the headquarters of the International Association "International Association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route” (Association TITR). Katarzyna Wawiernia, UNDP Resident Representative in Kazakhstan, and Aymgul Nurgalieva, Programme Analyst of the Effective Governance Department, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of the Association TITR in the development of infrastructure and strengthening regional cooperation in Central Asia. Association TITR plays a key role in the improvement of transport infrastructure, economic sustainability and social well-being, with a special focus on environmental sustainability and inclusiveness.

Both sides discussed in detail the prospects of TITR development and its importance for the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus. The importance of environmental impact minimization and sustainable use of natural resources, including the use of green energy and digital technologies, was also mentioned.

For reference: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was established in 1965 and plays a central role in coordinating development efforts of all UN agencies. The Programme is headquartered in New York and has branches in 166 countries.

UNDP is the largest UN agency operating on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It provides operational services to other UN agencies to optimize their costs, and administers funds for other organizations within/outside the UN system.

The main goal of UNDP is to ensure sustainable human development, i.e. in eradicating poverty, increasing employment and raising the standard of living of the population, improving the education system, protecting and restoring the environment.
