In light of recent media publications regarding the alleged appointment of a representative of Azerbaijan as the new Secretary General of the International Association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route” (hereinafter – the Association), as well as in response to inquiries from other media outlets requesting clarification, we hereby issue the following official statement:
At present, the duties of the Secretary General of the Association are being performed on an interim basis by Nurgul Zhakupova. The appointment of the Secretary General of the Association is carried out exclusively by decision of the Association’s Board, based on the recommendation of the Chairperson of the Board, for a term of three years, as clearly stipulated in the Association’s Charter.
Any information suggesting that a representative of a particular country is being considered for the role of Secretary General is inaccurate and does not reflect the official position of the Association, nor does it align with the procedures set forth in the Charter.
The Secretary General is accountable to all members of the Association equally, without granting privilege or special status to any party. Their role is focused on ensuring balanced cooperation among all participants and implementing decisions adopted by the governing bodies of the Association.
To prevent the spread of misinformation, we call on media representatives and all interested parties to rely solely on official information published on the Association’s official platforms.
