
On March 4, 2025, the General Meeting of the International Association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route” (hereinafter - the Association) was held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
During the session, the members of the General Meeting reviewed the Association’s activities for 2024 and outlined strategic plans for 2025.
According to data provided by the Association’s members, the volume of freight transported via the seaports of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in 2024 reached 3.3 million tons, reflecting a 20% increase compared to 2023. Container transportation volume amounted to 56,500 TEUs, demonstrating a 176% rise from the previous year. Furthermore, the number of container trains dispatched from China in 2024 increased by a factor of 33 compared to 2023.The General Meeting participants also ratified the cargo and container transportation plan for 2025 and updated tariff rates for the upcoming year.
During the meeting, it was also announced that the Association would establish a Representative Office in Xi'an, China. This initiative is aimed at strengthening collaboration with Chinese partners and enhancing transport connectivity. The establishment of the Xi'an office is expected to facilitate new opportunities for freight transportation along the TITR route and improve cooperation with Chinese enterprises.
Additionally, the Association welcomed new associate members: Xian Free Trade Port (China), Poti Trans Terminals (Kazakhstan), and UZ Cargo Poland (Poland).
As part of the General Meeting’s agenda, a roundtable discussion titled "Middle Corridor: Connectivity via the Caspian Sea" was conducted. The forum brought together representatives of transport and logistics companies, as well as experts in maritime shipping and freight transportation, to deliberate on key issues related to cargo operations across the Caspian Sea. The discussion centered on the expansion of freight volumes through the Caspian region, the development of port infrastructure, the impact of emerging technologies and international cooperation on fleet efficiency, and the environmental aspects of freight transportation in the region.
