The head of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Rovshan Rustamov stated this in an interview with AZƏRTAS.
According to Mr. Rustamov, at the moment, repair and restoration work has already been completed, as well as work on the reconstruction and expansion of the 184-kilometer part of the road passing through Georgia, the BTK railway line. It is expected that cargo transportation on the route will begin as early as May 20, 2024. The main goal of modernization is to increase the competitiveness of TITR and turn the BTK into one of the main cargo arteries of the corridor.
After modernization, the capacity of the BTK highway will increase from 1 to 5 million tons of cargo per year.
