Global Gateway Investment Forum takes place in Brussels

On January 29-30, 2024, the Global Gateway Investment Forum for EU-Central Asia Transport Connectivity is taking place in Brussels (Belgium).

The forum contributes to the achievement of the long-term goal of transforming the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) into a modern, competitive, sustainable and fast route connecting Europe and Central Asia.

The event brought together high-ranking representatives of Central Asian countries, EU member states, partner countries of the Trans-Caspian route, international financial institutions, as well as representatives of the private sector.

Within the framework of the forum, a session “Soft connectivity II: Making the Corridor Work: Interoperability and Harmonisation for Connectivity ” was held. The secretary-general of the ALE “International Association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route” (Association), Gaidar Abdikerimov presented current infrastructure opportunities of TITR, and also called on the forum participants to actively integrate the transport systems of the EU and Central Asia.

On the same day, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Association and DB E&C, which is designed to promote the further development of trade and economic relations in the Eurasian space by improving transportation along transport routes.

In addition, the forum announced that international partners are committed to providing 10 billion euros of investment for the development of sustainable transport links in Central Asia, including new commitments from the European Commission and the European Investment Bank in the amount of 1.5 billion euros.
